Tile Drainage Installations in MB, SK, AB

Tile Drainage is now BIG Business in western Canada with numerous custom installers entering or expanding into the market in recent years. We’ve also seen a rapid uptake in growers using our plows to install their own tile. The result is that you now have numerous options when it comes to installing tile on your farm. Our unique approach is designed to make sure you choose the option that best suits your situation, and get the best results and the best value for your investment. The first 2 steps of our 3-step process get you to the point that your system is ready to be installed. At Step 3, we’ll provide you with information on financial and logistical commitments required for self-installing your tile, having it custom installed, or a combination of both. Wherever custom installation is required, you can approach potential installers with our designs and specifications, request quotes, and determine which outfit is best suited in terms of expertise and equipment. As well as getting second opinions on the best system design, you also have us overseeing the job! If you decide to self-install (typically in this case we suggest you have your header pipes and outlet(s) custom installed, then self-install your own laterals as this is where self-install makes the most financial sense), we’ll provide full support and training where required. For larger projects (typically 250+ acres of pattern tile) we can also rent you the equipment to install yourself. Read more below about our 3 Step Process.

STEP 1: DESIGN IT

The first step in the process is to perform a detailed field survey using our survey-grade RTK GNSS systems. We will record elevations throughout the field, and also take shots of important features, such as ditches and culverts, that may be important when determining maximum depths the tiles can be installed to.

Once we have collected accurate elevation data, we set about designing your drainage layout. We use a combination of GIS software packages to process and filter the data, then create base maps to help us determine the best layout options for each field. We then design the system, testing the viability of every pipe, and determining the required pipe sizes, depths, and pipe spacing.

STEP 2: OBTAIN PERMITS

We’ll compile the required maps, documents, and project specifications, and advise you on the likely requirements to obtain approvals from neighboring land owners and local authorities. We’ll also be available to communicate with those responsible for regulating your project, to go over the proposed project with them, and address any concerns they may have.

While it may be intimidating, or seem that everyone else is draining without permits – so why should you? – it is important to follow protocol. Not only will you not find a reputable installer willing to install for you if you don’t have a permit, you’ll also likely face issues in the future, and may be forced to close-off any outlets you didn’t obtain permits for.

STEP 3: installation

We work with several tile drainage installers in western Canadaa, and can act as a general contractor to oversee your entire project – this provides a valuable second opinion, plus we’ll oversee the work they do. Alternatively you may decide to save several hundred dollars per acre by self-installing your tile drainage system, and in this case we’ll provide full training and support. If you have a bigger pattern tile project in Manitoba we can probably rent you the equipment too.

We have created a custom scenario calculator, which will show you estimated costs of having the entire system custom installed, as well as the cost savings and various options if you decide to install the tile yourself.

WHICHEVER OPTION YOU DECIDE ON, WE’LL MAKE SURE YOUR TILING PROJECT IS A SUCCESS AND THAT YOU’LL WANT TO KEEP TILING YOUR FARM!

We have a limited number of rental plows available for larger projects in southern Manitoba on a first-come basis each season.
